Details of our Lives

God, You alone know every detail of our lives. You know our past problems, our present pain, and our future purpose. And there is no situation that is too hard for You to redeem—because nothing is impossible for You. Thank You! Forgive us for all the times we have failed to follow You. Please realign our hearts with Your will, and teach us what it means to be Your disciple. I lift up our parents today. Be with them and protect them from the evil one. Fight the battle in their hearts, whatever it may be or however the devil is trying to persuade them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The Story of the Lifesaving Station

On a dangerous sea coast where shipwrecks often occur, there was once a crude little life-saving station. The building was just a hut, and there was only one boat, but the few devoted members kept a constant watch over the sea and with no thought for themselves went out day and night tirelessly searching for the lost. Some of those who were saved, and various others in the surrounding area, wanted to become associated with the station and give of their time and money and effort for the support of its work. New boats were bought and new crews trained. The little lifesaving station grew.  Some members of the lifesaving station were unhappy that the building was so crude and poorly equipped. They felt that a more comfortable place should be provided as the first refuge of those saved from the sea. They replaced the emergency cots with beds and put better furniture in the enlarged building. Now the lifesaving station became a popular gathering place for its members, and they decorated ...

Focus on You

Lord, I come to you with mixed emotions as our men’s group tends to squirrel. We are in a battle everyday for your attention. Lord, I pray you help us keep that focus on you. Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Lord, what is pure? Lovely? Admirable? What is excellent and praiseworthy? Help us to see those today. Not only see them but focus on them. We’ll be distracted and annoyed and have other emotions but Lord, redirect our hearts toward you. The evil one wants us to focus our attention on this world. Lord, help us focus on your kingdom. Our Cornerstone

King of Kings, Lord of Lords, We praise you today as our cornerstone. As our rock and firm foundation by which we can build our fortress against evil. We know you have won the battle but it’s still comforting knowing the arrows that are still flying can’t land in our camp when we know you are with us. Lord, as I meditate on Isaiah 28:16, and the idea of not panicking because you are our firm rock, I also think of Theodore Roosevelt’s “The Man in the Arena” speech. Lord, lead me to the arena today to do your will, your way. In Humility

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, We come to you today in humility. We are so blessed and take so much for granted. You give us everything we need and we still want more. We have such an abundance of everything and at time are still not happy. We think our constant busyness is a sign of success and yet don't include enough time for you. Forgive us. Lead us. Fill us. Search our hearts and slow our tongues. [Personal Intercession] [Personal Intercession] Lord, you know what is on our hearts. Fill our purpose with passion. Knock down evil that may hinder us today and allow us to serve you today. Continue to tighten our chord of three with Vickie and I and bless us as we take on our day. In your name, Amen.

Chaos in Media

King Jesus, If we have our heads in media, we can see the chaos of this world… in government, with wars, with evil leaders, with corruption, murder, and all the other atrocities we are committing. Please forgive us, Jesus. You are the King. You rule over all and when we cross over, we know this world of chaos will be gone. Thank you for breaking your body and shedding your blood. We are not worthy but thankful, nonetheless. [Personal Intercession]  Your story is the story worth sharing, Jesus. If there is someone who needs to hear the good news and you feel we are worthy of sharing, put them in front of us today. Maybe you would like to convict us to have more faith or any of the other fruits of the Holy Spirt. Whatever you may have for us, let us have ears to hears your voice and eyes to see your path. In your name we pray, Amen.

Prayer Life

Heavenly Father, Forgive me for not being formal in my prayer life. I know you hear our thoughts and silent prayers but sharing them in both writing and with your body is a part of sharing your gospel of love. Please forgive me and help me to speak with you one on one and also with fellow believers as well as non-believers. Bringing you conversation is always wise. Lord, thank you for a blessed weekend of time with Vickie and looking for and talking about venues for the wedding. We know it’s not the place but the heart and we just want you to be at the center of all our decisions as it relates to our union. We want others to see your heart through our union. We want others to be refreshed in your peace and love as we celebrate the marriage and what it means to be united with you. We have another week ahead of us. Keep our families safe from the evil one. Put a hedge of protection around them and guard them from sin and evil. Help us to see your will in those you place in our midst...

What Matters

Father God, Help us to focus on what matters today. Help us focus on the things you put before us. Whether that’s in our jobs, the people you place in front of us, the books we are reading, the studies we are going through… whatever it may be, help us to focus our energy to do your will and do it your way. Whatever cup you want us to carry, give us the strength, courage, and discipline to do it in a way that is worthy of you. Lord, we all have things that we “wish” happened differently but we know you have a purpose and we sometimes just don’t understand. Help us to be okay with not understanding. Not knowing or thinking we have to “have a say” in the outcome. You work in ways that are higher than us and we trust you, Lord. Help us to forgive those who hurt us. Help us to have mercy and see them in a light that is through misunderstanding and not of evil intent. That we see them in a light that is through Your lens and not the misguided lens of the evil one who likes to insert him...
