Praying the Beatitudes

Abstract illustration of Jesus teaching a gathered crowd during the Sermon on the Mount.

Lord, I need You.
Apart from You, I am empty and dependent.

Help me grieve the sin, brokenness, and injustice within me and around me.
Do not let my heart grow numb to what breaks Yours.

Teach me humility and gentleness in all my interactions.
Give me strength that is surrendered and controlled by love.

Create in me a deep hunger and thirst for Your righteousness.
May I desire Your ways more than comfort, approval, or control.

Help me extend mercy, forgiveness, and compassion to others,
just as You have so freely given mercy to me.

Purify my heart and remove distractions that divide my devotion.
I want to love You sincerely, wholeheartedly, and truthfully.

Make me a peacemaker in a world filled with conflict, division, and chaos.
Use me to reconcile, restore, encourage, and bring Your peace wherever I go.

And when faithfulness becomes difficult,
help me choose obedience over comfort and truth over fear.
Give me courage to follow You no matter the cost.

May my life reflect the character of Jesus
as I learn to be with You, become like You, and do what You did.

Amen.
