Crossing the Chasm from False-Self to True-Self in Christ
In our journey of faith, we often struggle between two identities—the False-Self, driven by fear, pride, and self-preservation, and the True-Self, shaped by love, humility, and God’s purpose for us. Scripture teaches that sin creates a chasm between us and God, one that we cannot bridge on our own. But through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, we are invited to step out of the old self and into the new, living as the people God created us to be.
Romans 3:23 – "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
Isaiah 59:2 – "But your iniquities have separated you from your God."
John 14:6 – "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Ephesians 2:13 – "But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ."
Ephesians 4:22-24 – "Put off your old self... and put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness."
2 Corinthians 5:17 – "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"
Jesus' teachings in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) embody the characteristics of the True-Self.
Philippians 2:5-8 – Jesus as the model of humility and selflessness.
