Seeing Others Through His Lens
After a weekend spent in sacred silence with God, returning to the world can feel almost disorienting. In those quiet moments, we set aside distractions, withdraw from the noise, and immerse ourselves in His presence. But what does that time truly change within us? How does it shape the way we live, the way we see others, and the way we love?
Each soul who embarks on such a retreat experiences transformation in a unique way, yet for me, the impact is undeniable. To rest in the awareness of God’s immense love for me is to recognize that He has poured that same love into each person He has created—every soul across time, past and present. His longing for relationship is not reserved for a select few but extends to all.
As I reflect on my own sinfulness, I am humbled by the truth that we are all sinners, wholly dependent on His mercy. And when I seek His forgiveness, I find my heart expanding with the desire for the same mercy to be poured out upon all of humanity. How could I wish otherwise, knowing the price He paid? He bore unimaginable suffering, carrying the weight of every sin to Calvary, where He was nailed to the cross—where He bled and died for each of us, for every failing, for every wound. He did not turn away from our burden but embraced it fully out of love.
How can such a truth not change the way I see others? How can it not soften my heart, temper my words, and shape my actions? It must. And yet, I still stumble. I still fall short. But He remains—always beside me, always beside you. He is the most faithful of companions, guiding us on this journey. And as we walk with Him, we begin to know Him more deeply, trust Him more fully, love Him more completely.
But this journey is not meant to be traveled alone. He calls us to slow down, to see, to cherish the souls who walk alongside us. To welcome those who long for His presence but do not yet know the way. And so, we press on, hand in hand with our Savior, embracing the beauty of the path and the sacred gift of the fellow travelers He places in our midst.
